Overall, Good experience

I recommend this course, as I began with very minimal bartending experience, but now feel much more confident and comfortable in what I have learned and in my performance. If you have the individual motivation to study the drink recipes, if you are willing to attend class and practice, this is an awesome place to gain some exposure and experience.

Josh does an excellent job at introducing you to drinks, offering advice, on more than just mixing drinks, but also scenarios that might happen in a bartending setting. I would also highly recommend the flashcards he has, they were invaluable in learning and remembering the various drinks and recipes. Overall, great experience.

In the past I took a course from ABC Bartending School in Las Vegas. It was a great experience. Time past and I never did anything with my training... Since ABC was not in my area (which would have been free for past students) I decided that I would try a different school and see if I could learn new skills. I did learn new skills from the school.

I learned speed, precision, how to be a master at making the drinks we learned, and how to work as a team. The final timed test is pretty tough to pass. There is also a written portion that all bartenders should know before entering the field. We are also taught how to keep our bar space in top operating order and the importance of keeping it clean.

The negatives... While the instructor Josh Hernandez is very knowledgeable he can come across as harsh at times. I had no problems with him but some people without thick skin might not click to well with him. My advice is to take the course with an open mind and let any and all negativity bounce off you. Take the course, gain the knowledge, speed & skill, to become an outstanding bartender and let nothing get in your way. Stay positive and you will be fine! Positivity, Attitude, and lots of Practice (PAP) are the keys to mastering this course. Implement PAP in everything you do in life and you will do fine! Keep that smile and Good Luck!

Great Gift Idea!

Gave this course as a gift to my granddaughters, they now use their training to work in the hospitality industry. Give the gift of education, it will last a lifetime.

I just completed Pro Bartenders School’s 30-hour course  — what a great experience!  I worked as a bartender in New Jersey for almost two years, but that was twenty-five years ago!  I turned to PBS because I have a job opportunity here in San Diego that requires me to have current bartending certification.  Additionally, I felt a ‘refresher’ on the basics, plus information on California’s rules and regulations, would better prepare me for this opportunity.

From the minute I walked in the door at the school, and saw a completely outfitted bar — with five fully equipped stations and two flat screens going full blast with music and sportscasting — I knew I was in for a ‘full immersion’ experience!  To describe the classroom environment as ‘non-stop’ and ‘hands-on’ is to put it mildly.  I was amazed to find myself behind the bar mixing drinks after just one hour of expert orientation and direction!  Our instructor, Arnie, had a ‘cool’ style which combined his encyclopedic mixology knowledge with the professionalism of an experienced classroom teacher.  He was both riveting and entertaining, as well encouraging and supportive.

Age-wise, our group of 25 was mostly ’20-somethings’, with a sprinkling of 30+ — and then there was me.  Regardless, Arnie had everyone’s full attention.  He kept us all focused and on task with his in-your-face, no-holds barred presentation of what it is REALLY like to work behind a bar in San Diego.  Because of my experience bartending in NJ, I was able to truly appreciate the ‘real world’ view Arnie was expertly weaving into his engaging and entertaining instructions. His presentations alternated between the fun and the serious, enabling him to fully impact our entire group with the critical sales, legal, safety, and ethical aspects of a bartender’s responsibilities.  The stories Arnie included from his own experiences behind the bar breathed life and authenticity into the subject matter.

I believe Arnie’s bartending expertise and teaching skills are a perfect fit for the excellent curriculum offered by Professional Bartenders School.  I feel lucky to have the benefit of his energy and upbeat work ethic as I re-enter the job market in San Diego’s restaurant and bar industry.  There is no doubt in my mind that a bartending certificate from PBS will open doors for anyone wants to have fun and is willing to work hard behind the bar.  Professional Bartending School gets a ‘5 Star’ rating from me.

My son and I took this class. I had a blast!  We took the  night class and I found it to be fun, informative and entertaining. A lot of that has to do with the instructor Arnie. He is good at teaching the class and really want to see you succeed.  I learned a lot! I took this class for fun and I might do it again with my other son.
